Podcasting is a great way to stand out as a candidate and position yourself as an expert in your industry.

So You Want to Start a Podcast?
Amazing! Podcasts are so fun and we can’t get enough of them! Podcasting is an amazing adventure — and you can pretty much talk about whatever you want nowadays. Your podcast can be a passion project or it can position you as an expert in your field. Whatever the reason you are choosing to start your own podcast, do it!! It’s easy!
Start recording!
Right now, just do it! Grab your laptop or phone and record yourself talking. Get used to hearing your voice. Keep recording until you feel you are “comfortable” listening to yourself speak. When you feel you are used to hearing yourself, get ready to record your first episode.
Your first episode
There are so many different apps and tools online that you can download on your phone and laptop. It’s never been easier. A quick search will take you to a bunch of different podcast recording sites. GarageBand and Audacity and a couple of free recording options to check out.
Podcast hosting
When you have recorded your first episode you will have to upload it to a podcast host site. Some of the apps you may have recorded your episode on may be linked to your podcast host site, if it is, BONUS! You don’t have to find another host site.
Graphics
Your podcast will need some graphics. You can create that for free on Canva. If you want to invest some money you can have a graphic designer create your brand logo. Fiverr is a great place to find affordable graphic designers. You will need a graphic so you can share your podcast on all the podcast listening platforms.
Music
This isn’t mandatory but you can add intro outro music clips for free from different websites that provide music that has no charge. Try out Pixabay for royalty-free music downloads.
Publish and Share
When you have created and edited your first episode you can publish and share it with the world!
Podcasting can be complicated if you allow it to be but if you want to create your podcast because you want to share some information and chat then don’t make it hard. Do what makes you happy on your schedule. Have fun with it and you don’t have to have the perfect audio.
